Summer Days!

Here at last! Ahhhh! We have been enjoying our first few days of summer. Monday was spent mostly relaxing at home. Mommy got her chores done though, and the girls practiced the piano and did some homework. Rachel spent some time reading to Miriam. And we made a quick trip for Slurpees too!
Tuesday was beach day. We lucked out as it was the sunniest day of the week. It was fun playing with some of our new friends in our new ward. The big girls were able to play in the water on their own and loved it. Rachel was content to play in the sand the whole time, which meant Mommy got to enjoy her day at the beach eating lunch and visiting with the other moms!

Wednesday started off slowly, but once we started, we didn't stop. We went to the optometrist first. Miriam bent her frames when she ran into a wall the other night. Luckily, they were able to straighten them out. They were also able to adjust Liz's frames so they won't slip down her nose ALL the time. Then we went to the library where we all found some great books and got ourselves signed up for the summer reading program! Then we zoomed down to Oxnard to pick up the next piano level for Liz at the music store and then raced back to Ventura to get Liz to her first art class this summer. She enjoyed learning about Van Gogh and his sunflower paintings and then making her own sunflower collage while the little girls played at the park nextdoor.
We grabbed some lunch and headed home to eat and rest for about an hour before getting ready for ballet class!! The girls were all excited to do ballet with Teacher Pam again. Rachel's pre-ballet class was first and she did an amazing job. I was a little concerned because she's not quite three, but she followed along and obeyed the teacher the whole time! Liz and Miriam enjoyed their class too. It was fun for them to be in the next level and begin to step things up. But they still got to do freeze dance at the end!
At the end of the summer session, all of her classes perform at the Ventura County Fair (she teaches in many cities), but it's usually on Sunday. It turns out that the Ventura classes perform on Saturday! Yay! So that will be a fun thing to do. Also, we get one free pass per child and Rachel and Mimi are free, so we are set for the fair this year! We got to stay in and watch for the first week and that was fun, but after two hours of ballet class, we were ready to come home.

Tomorrow, Rachel and Miriam have their art class in the morning and then I need to get serious about preparing for our upcoming vacation!

Piano, art classes, ballet, library reading program . . . isn't motherhood great!! You are developing talents of some wonderful young women! I love how Mimi's hands are even in the dance position! While you are getting ready for that trip can you make out a little list of what the girls like to eat for breakfast and lunch or maybe we can just go over that on the phone or on Saturday ;-)

Are you so glad summer vacation is here?! It's nice to have some downtime and enjoy fun things like ballet and art without the added stress of school and homework. And I'm looking forward to hearing all about your vacation :)

So there's something about little girls in leotards that is just too cute. I love Rachel's picture especially--maybe because you can see those sweet little legs! So fun!
