Rachel's preschool went on a field trip to the pumpkin patch yesterday. We were supposed to go last week, but postponed because the rain had made a muddy mess of the fields. But yesterday, the sun was shining and it was a perfect day.
Our first activity was eating a snack! Here is Rachel's class on their snack mat. They were all so serious while eating.
Then we sat in a hay bale amphitheater and listened to the farmer for a few minutes. She talked about the shapes of the pumpkins and the different colors they come in. She also had a vine with a flower and a baby pumpkin to show how the pumpkins grow. It was a perfect preschool lesson! Rachel was, of course, mostly interested in picking apart the hay bale she was sitting on.
Then we got to take a tractor ride to see some of the animals. The barn
and house were built in 1904 and 1909, respectively and are still used
today. When we got back, we looked at some more animals and then picked
out a pumpkin to take home. I think a good time was had by all!
