After the family reunion, we headed up to Willard, UT to visit our good friends the Ross'! We have missed having them as neighbors and it was really fun to see their new house and hang out again. We had a typical Ross/Henshaw hang out session. The kids played with just about every toy they could find, we shared a meal together, we watched a RiffTrax, we played a new game, and we had a ton of fun! It was great. They were kind enough to feed us breakfast too before we headed out for more vacation fun.
We headed down to SLC to see Temple Square with the girls. They enjoyed seeing the sights they usually see on TV at general conference time. We did a tour of the conference center and went through the visitors' center. Then we grabbed lunch at a restaurant across the street.
Next we drove down to Provo to visit our alma mater: BYU! The girls loved seeing some of the places Daddy and I have told them about. It was a quick visit, but we spent a good amount of time (and money) in the bookstore and Jim was able to meet up with the professor who mentored him through his master's degree. We also stopped at the Cannon Center at Helaman Halls (where Jim and I first met!) and enjoyed some BYU Creamery ice cream. I hope next time we go, we can stay longer, it was a ton of fun!
The Bowles' new house was our next stop with lots more cousin time! They had just gotten warmed up at the reunion. Unfortunately, their AC was on the fritz, but we managed to have a good time anyway! The cousins played and had a slumber party in the basement while the boys went to see the new Batman movie. Shannon, Mel and I got shakes and stayed up late talking. Everyone had fun.
Tuesday morning, the kids played outside and tried to beat the heat! Then we went to Thanksgiving Point to visit the dinosaur museum. The big kids got to polish a fossil while the little ones made a fossil. Then Weston and Davin were our tour guides through the very cool dinosaur museum. Shannon and Talia had to head home part way through to meet the AC repairman, but the kids just took their time exploring and checking it all out. Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention to the fact that the settings on my camera had been changed, so none of my pictures turned out. But the kids really had a good time.
That evening, we had a BBQ and watched some comedy while listening to the neighbors set off fireworks for Pioneer Day. The next morning, we got ourselves packed up and waved goodbye before heading out for the long drive home. It was a great family vacation.
