Home Again, Home Again

Friday morning, we used up the last of our 'resort credits' on a photo shoot. It was kind of early in the morning, so we did it on the lagoon side for better lighting instead of the ocean. Unfortunately, we ended up getting eaten alive by mosquitoes!! We did so well in the jungle all week and then the last day got bitten. It was a bummer. But the pictures turned out cute, so that was fun.
After pictures, we went and had breakfast at the buffet again. I made sure to eat some coconut ice cream with my breakfast (so creamy and delish). Then we returned our unused ponchos to the gift shop and picked out a couple more souvenirs for the girls. Finally, we packed up our stuff and checked out. We still had a few hours before we had to go to the airport and we still had use of the resort. So we hung out in the lobby bar, drank strawberry and mango daiquiris, played Connect Four, and read. For lunch, we ate at the snack bar by the pool. It was fun to be there for a little bit, but there were lots of people and loud music and we didn't really miss anything by not being there earlier in the week. Then we finally got in a taxi and headed off to the airport.

It was a long wait at the airport, but I had my last book (I had packed three) and we bought some yummy Swiss chocolate at the duty-free place. We made it to Phoenix with plenty of time and grabbed some dinner. We were tired and sitting at our gate (working puzzles and reading) when I realized that we should have started boarding 10 minutes earlier and no one was at this gate....we were at the wrong gate!!! We were in the wrong terminal!!! We sprinted down the moving walkways and made it to our gate just in the nick of time. I'm not sure we could have cut it any closer. That was embarrassing. What idiot sits at the wrong gate for so long without paying attention?!?!

We made it to Long Beach, my Dad picked us up and took us back to his house. We got out our presents for them and then packed the kids up in the car and headed home. It was on the way home that I realized my wallet was missing. I called the airlines and our banks, hoping to find it. We dragged ourselves in the door of our house at 1am and threw ourselves in bed. It was a long, great week, but we needed a break!

Ah, you were in Phoenix! Next time you can come stay the night in Mesa--we're only 25 minutes from the airport. :) That trip sounds amazing! Did you ever find your wallet? My little brother and his wife went to Cancun on their honeymoon and the maids stole over $500 from them. Crazy!
