Fall Break: Part III

Friday, Jim surprised us by coming home early.  We had all missed him and were so glad to have him back home with us.  We didn't do too much that day.  But we did release our butterflies.  Liz got the Live Butterfly kit for her birthday.  We finally got around to ordering them and they arrived at the end of September.  By the first weekend in October, they were in chrysalis and a week later we had butterflies.  Liz has had a lot of fun feeding them and holding them on the end of a cotton swab for a couple weeks.

On Saturday, I went and cleaned the church building in the morning and practiced the organ.  Ryan went to the temple with the youth.  In the afternoon, we got ready for the ward trunk-or-treat.  The girls were super excited to wear their costumes and get candy.  They wanted silly string to be their web shooters, so we bought some at the dollar store.  I let them use it at home in the back yard.

This is the nose picking game that I made.  The first time you stick your hand in, you find green goo.  The next time, you got a prize.  It didn't look as cool as the original idea online, but it was much cheaper and faster this way.

Even though she doesn't look like it in the picture, Rachel thought this Thor looked really cool. :)
The donut game was hilarious!!!  Miriam went first and had so much fun. Right after this picture, she got a big bite and took a second to chew and swallow.  Rachel jumped right in and tried to finish Mimi's donut!  We told her to wait her turn. :)
She cheated a bit, but eventually got the hang of it.

After the games outside, we went in and ate.  They had hotdogs, fritos and chili.  At another table, they had sliced up apples with caramel.  Yum!  There were also rootbeer floats, but I somehow missed those.  I was trying to keep track of the three girls on my own.

After dinner, they had four teams compete in a game of Fear Factor!  It was pretty fun.  Ryan was on the young men's team.  The whole team had two minutes to chew as much gum as possible.  Then Ryan had two minutes to sculpt the gum into something.  We cheered him into second place.  Unfortunately, I only had my phone with me at that point, so the pictures aren't great.

Then we went through the very cool spook alley.  The young men put it together and it definitely scared my girls.  (Although, it wasn't too bad.)  Then we got to do the trunk-or-treating part.  It took Rachel about four trunks to get the hang of it.  She followed her sisters around and said, "Trick-or-treat!!!" with the best of them.  The big girls were really good about waiting for her and staying together too.  It was a very fun night.
