Happy Halloween!

After all the fun on Saturday night, the girls were ready for more on Monday evening.  Rachel had a little Halloween party with some of her friends from preschool.  It was at one of the other kids' houses and they all dressed up and just played for an hour and a half.  It was pretty cute and it was also nice to be able to visit with the other moms for a bit.
We went straight from the party to Costco, where I ran into a friend.  It was nice to have someone to sit and eat lunch with for a few minutes.  Rachel looked pretty cute in her costume and wore her mask almost the entire time.
It was a long afternoon waiting until it got dark, but the sun eventually went down.  I thought about going to another neighborhood, but had noticed quite a few houses were decorated, so decided to stay local.  I took Ryan and the girls out at about 6:30.  There weren't a lot of other people out, but there were enough to say hi to as we walked along.  The girls loved it.  Mimi was always at the door first.  She would knock and then say, "Trick-or-treat!" really loud.  By the time the people came to the door, Rachel and Liz had caught up.  And then they were off to the next house.
We did the street behind us, the row of duplexes to the north of us, the street on the east side of us and then finished with our street.  I would say more than half of the homes had lights on and people giving out candy.  By the time we got to our street, Rachel couldn't carry her bag anymore.  The girls got a ton of candy....and the good stuff too.  The highlights of the neighborhood were the guy who gave out long necklace glow sticks, the lady who gave them each three nickels (!), and the two houses that gave away the full size candybars.  But the best was probably the glow sticks.
The girls had so much fun going door to door and I really enjoyed trick-or-treating in our own neighborhood.
