San Diego Zoo

We hadn't really planned anything for Wednesday, but found out that San Diego has this thing in October where kids get in free to all sorts of places, the zoo being one of them.  Jim had never been and wanted to, I hadn't been since high school and the kids are always up for a day at the zoo, so we headed out!  Kinda fun being spontaneous!

We started with the bus tour that shows you about 70% of the park.  My personal favorite was seeing these guys....on Wednesday.  'Hump da-ay!'

We saw a lot of animals, including the cute pandas, the hippos, the elephants, the giraffes, the cheetah, the koalas and tons more.  We made good use of the kangaroo bus where you can hop on and off throughout the park and Jim was a really good navigator (that map was less than helpful).  We ate lunch and then took the arial tram down to the bottom/front of the zoo.  I really wanted to see the insect house and was not disappointed in the size or gross factor of the bugs on display.  The bird eating spider was ginormous!!!  It was a fun day at the zoo.

We called Grandma B on our way home to see if we could stop by.  She was thrilled and kind enough to offer us dinner too.  The girls had fun telling Grandma and Grandpa and Auntie Jules all about our trip!
