Field Trip!

Miriam had her field trip on Wednesday. It was an early day, so we dropped her off with Lizzie at 8am. I had enough time to go home and get ready and then get up to the pumpkin patch to meet the bus there. They visit a small organic farm in Camarillo. They have a few animals and a little over 3 acres that they farm. Mimi's class listened to the farmer for a bit and then got to feed the animals. They learned about organic farming, the different seasons, and what can grow in each season. Then they got to feed the sheep and goats, which was fun.
Finally, it was our turn for a ride on the tractor-trailer. It was a REALLY windy day, not too cold, just windy. The girls found their pumpkins pretty quick and we headed back to the tractor. They drove us the rest of the way around the field and then let us walk back through the "corn path". It twisted and turned and took us back to the main area. Since it was such a chilly summer, the corn had only grown to about chest height. The wind would blow it suddenly and it was rather spooky for a two year old!!
