A Visit to the Dentist

We took our bi-annual trip to the dentist this morning. The big girls really look forward to going and know the whole routine. Rachel is still fairly new to the process and this was her second visit. They played with the toys in the waiting room first; Lizzie was excited to find "The Tooth Book" which we had just checked out from the library last week. Then we went back and everyone got a chair.

Rachel was fine while waiting her turn. She chewed on a tooth brush, drooled all over herself, watched the movie, put the sunglasses on, watched her big sisters get their teeth cleaned and did a bit of exploring. She was not a big fan when it was her turn though. I held her on my lap, but she wasn't going to allow her teeth to be cleaned. She did like the water squirter, so we gave her a couple little drinks to try and put a positive spin on the whole thing. When the dentist came out to check her teeth, I just held her on my lap facing me and leaned her backwards. She finally has some teeth to actually look at. Now we are just waiting for her two-year molars...but she still has a few weeks.
Miriam was such a good girl. She opened her mouth so big and wide and held super still when they did the x-rays (an amazing feat for her). This was when the hygienist was showing her "Mr. Tickle". She didn't have any cavities, but we need to floss everyday now since her teeth are so close together.
Lizzie asked the hygienist to be extra careful with "Mr. Tickle" when she cleaned her wiggly teeth and they were. When the dentist sat down to look at her mouth, she said excitedly, "There's been a lot of changes in my mouth!" and proceeded to show off her two new teeth and the wiggly ones on top. Lizzie didn't have any cavities either, but we need to be more vigilant with flossing her too. She said Lizzie is also a candidate for early orthodontia. *yea* She said probably in about two years we will have to start the expansion process. As I drove home, I thought, "Two years is not that far away....we should start saving now!!" And Miriam will be right behind her too. Yikes. But for now, it was another successful trip to the dentist.

That's awesome that your girls are so good for the dentist. Weston is really good about it but you can tell he doesn't like it. Davin was not a fan of his first visit, but we got through. Good luck with flossing. Why is it so hard to do? :)

Yeah for no cavities. We were not so lucky our time around. I totally agree about the saving up for things!!

Yes, crooked teeth and bad eyes. That's our legacy! They look so cute in the dentist chair. Why am I not surprised that Rachel was not a fan of the dentist. . .little pill. Lizzie and Mimi are such pros, though. I'm glad you are vigilant with going too . . such a good mother!!
